AIRE registration has been pending since August with no resolution. After nine months, I was suddenly informed that before being registered I first needed to register in Italy a marriage that took place abroad (and that has been verified and registered in the UAE ever since). Apparently, after months of silence, this essential requirement only surfaced now. It leaves the impression that unless every administrative box is ticked immediately, citizens abroad are not even considered worthy of basic consular service. After generic replies and no practical guidance on how to register my marriage in Italy, the final response was simply to "check the website." There is a striking gap between the self-congratulatory social media messaging about being "fully deployed" for Italian citizens abroad and the reality experienced when actual assistance is needed. Fortunately, living in Dubai at least offers the small comfort of knowing I am no longer paying taxes for this level of "service." A consulate should assist citizens, not send them in circles. Giving 1* only because 0 is not an option.
I was so nervous to do our passport renewal cause we had such a bad experience in London. The Dubai office staff was excellent, we were welcomed with a smile, all documents were as requested in the website and overall it was such a pleasant experience.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Italian consulate in Dubai. They gave me clear instructions about the process and all the documents i need to provide, the needed attestation and even whom to contact for translation. I got the declaration of value after all the documents were ready in less than 2 hours. I would like to thank Mister David and Mister John for their kind treatment.
Excellent service. Passport renewal was done within 15 min - friendly and helpful.
Hello Im very happy to visite your wonderful country with immense history and nice food with lovely people
Worst service I’ve experienced in any embassy ! No matter if you have an appointment that you had to wait months to get , you will still wait for hours to be seen.
I have never encountered such outrageous unprofessionalism. The staff are completely inconsistent with information: first they say one thing, then the exact opposite. The person at the reception gives the impression that they come here just to eat — they are almost never present. On top of that, they behave rudely, arrogantly, and completely lack the necessary knowledge. It feels like they are working here with no understanding of their responsibilities. For this kind of work, giving stars is not enough — this isn’t even a rating, it’s a disgrace
